Good News! The Key Laboratory for Cardiovascular Antibody and Macromolecular Innovative Drugs Led by Hotgen Biotech Has Been Officially Approved

Recently, the Beijing Key Laboratory for Key Technologies and Industrialization of Cardiovascular Antibody and Macromolecular Innovative Drug R&D was officially approved by the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee.

The laboratory is led by Beijing Hotgen Biotech Co., Ltd. and jointly established with Beijing Sungen Biomedical Technology Co., Ltd., the Beijing Institute of Heart, Lung and Blood Vessel Diseases, and Beijing Keygen Biomed Co., Ltd. It is an important platform in Beijing's medical and healthcare sector for cardiovascular frontier innovation and key technology research.

At present, original cardiovascular antibodies and macromolecular drug technologies have high technical barriers and long R&D cycles, which are common bottlenecks in the industry. In response to this situation, the laboratory will focus on a series of core technology platforms, including AI target screening and molecular design, cardiac-targeted delivery, and macromolecule preparation.

The team will take SGC001, a potentially globally first-in-class drug for myocardial infarction, as its core project. It will also carry out drug R&D for major cardiovascular diseases such as heart failure and inflammation. The laboratory will work to overcome technical difficulties, build an independently controllable innovative drug R&D system, solve key problems in R&D and translation, and strengthen the technological foundation for the development of Beijing's biomedical industry.

Tackling Core Technologies and Strengthening the Foundation for Industrial Development

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among urban and rural residents in China. According to estimates from the National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, there are 330 million people living with cardiovascular disease in China, including 4.5 million patients with heart failure. The incidence and mortality of myocardial infarction are also gradually affecting younger people, and many gaps remain in clinical treatment.

Deepening Collaboration and Building an Integrated Innovation System

The laboratory has created a collaborative model that deeply integrates industry, universities, research institutes, and medical institutions. The participating organizations will complement each other's strengths and work together efficiently.

Hotgen Biotech will coordinate the overall operation, resource allocation, and industrialization planning of the laboratory. Sungen Biomedical will focus on antibody drug molecule development and process optimization. The Beijing Institute of Heart, Lung and Blood Vessel Diseases will provide target validation and medical support through its strengths in clinical and basic research. Keygen Biomed will focus on key technologies such as cardiac-targeted delivery.

By working together, the four parties will break down barriers between research, industry, and clinical practice. They will build a full-chain system from target discovery and experimental R&D to pilot production and clinical application, making innovation resources more efficiently integrated and used.
