Recently, the proposed projects for the 2026 National Science and Technology Major Project for Innovative Drug R&D were announced. Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University, is the leading project undertaking institution. Sungen Biomedical is one of the main participating organizations and will be responsible for research on the project Confirmation of Innovative Targets for Heart Failure and Their Preclinical and Clinical Evaluation (2026ZD1806202).

The successful selection into this top-level national program for new drug R&D marks authoritative national recognition of Sungen Biomedical's comprehensive strength in original target discovery and validation, full-chain drug evaluation, and the industrial transformation of innovative achievements. It also helps address unmet clinical treatment needs in major cardiovascular diseases.

This project will focus on key pain points in industry R&D. It will mainly work on the validation of new innovative targets for heart failure, full-scope preclinical evaluation of candidate drugs, and clinical research. It is a core project aimed at overcoming key technical challenges in the development of domestic innovative drugs for heart failure.

As an important core implementing organization, Sungen Biomedical stands out through its years of full-chain research layout in cardiovascular innovative drugs, showing differentiated core innovation advantages.

Taking part in this national major project has milestone strategic significance for the development of Sungen Biomedical. For the company, special project funding and national-level research platform resources will further strengthen its technical barriers in target innovation, accelerate the validation of new heart failure targets and the advancement of candidate drug pipelines, help core products move quickly toward key clinical stages, and continue to improve its differentiated innovation layout in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

For the industry, Sungen Biomedical will rely on this project to develop a group of innovative drugs with new targets and independent intellectual property rights. This will help make up for China's weakness in original cardiovascular drug innovation, change the long-standing industry pattern in which domestic cardiovascular drugs have mainly been improved drugs or imported generics, and promote a shift in cardiovascular drug R&D from follow-on innovation to source-led innovation.

In the future, Sungen Biomedical will take this national major project as a new starting point. It will continue to focus on unmet clinical needs in cardiovascular diseases, follow the dual drive of original independent innovation and efficient industrial transformation, and continue to develop safe, effective, and accessible domestic original innovative drugs.

Through its scientific and technological innovation, the company aims to improve China's biomedical innovation chain, protect public cardiovascular health, and support the high-quality and high-level development of China's biomedical industry.
